When I change on-premises gateway service account, it doesn't require to input password of NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService, just enter the domain account and enter password of the domain account as below, then restart on-premises gateway service.
Could you please post a screenshot about the scenario?
Regards,
Lydia
Re: Password of Default service account (NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService)
Re: Encoding issue after data refresh
Hello Sergei
How did you tackle this issue back then?
thx
Re: Password of Default service account (NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService)
Hi Lydia,
Thank you for your answer.
Could you please advise me, how you get this screen as I have different screen as below.
Below are the steps I follow:
- login to On premises data getaway
- go to service settings tap >> click on change account and then it’s showing below screen which is asking for the password
And one point please, do you know how to keep the On premises data getaway always signed in, so I don’t need to sign in every time I open it.
Re: How do I scale powerBI? My clients are giving me over 70 data sets.
When you have multiple transform or calculation steps in Power BI and work with large dataset, it will take long time to apply query changes.
In your scenario, I would recommend you import all data from Excel to SQL Server database, then use DirectQuery mode to connect to SQL database in Power BI Desktop.

Lydia
Re: Problem after SAP BW connection
What is the version of your Power BI Desktop and do you define any queries in the cube? If you need to connect to the queries, you would need to enable the option that you mentioned.

Re: Password of Default service account (NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService)
In Windows Services panel as shown in the following screenshot, right-click on on-premises gateway service and select property, then change service account.
Besides, you don't need to sign in gateway on your machine each time you use on-premises gateway to refresh dataset in Power BI Service.

Re: Can't connect to Google Analtyics
I'm still receiving the same errors today. Was the issue supposed to be fixed at the last update time?
I did get everything to work correctly by using a different login. The login I was using previously is part of an organization that doesn't have Power BI currently (hence the trial), and is a different email than what is attached to Google Analytics. I started another trial with the same email that is on GA (and is not on any MS org) and I was able to connect. I could just use this other login, however the whole point was to do a trial of Power BI for members of the team in the aforementioned organization, so we'd need to get it working there.
Re: PowerBI on a password protected Excel xslx file
2018 checking in on the topic. Any progress made?
Re: Password of Default service account (NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService)
Hi Lydia,
Thank you for your valuable update.
I have changed the account to my email, restart the service and restart the laptop.
However, I'm still getting (Invalid connection credentials) error when attempting to add additional data source to my gateway through (Mange Gateways) in app.powerbi.com
I’m using Windows as authentication method and inserting the email & password I assigned in the Windows Services panel.
Cannot open Jira Content Pack
Hi,
I'm trying to import Jira Content Pack to Power BI Desktop but it gives the below error:
Unable to open document
Cannot convert value 'impersonateCurrentUser' to required type 'ImpersonationMode'. Check path 'model.dataSources[0].impersonationMode', line 16, position 54.
How can I fix this?
thanks!
What is the difference between Report and Dataset in Power BI Publisher for Excel?
I've connected with both in Excel and I cannot tell the difference in what is offered as far as data or pivot table fields.
Re: What is the difference between Report and Dataset in Power BI Publisher for Excel?
Hey,
assume your dataset is a dataset coming from an on-premises SSAS Tabular model and you create a measure in a report publish the report to the service, then you will find a difference between connecting to report and dataset.
Regards
Tom
Re: What is the difference between Report and Dataset in Power BI Publisher for Excel?
Ahhh... ok. Everything we do here is to the Power BI service (no SSAS Tabular model on prem) so it is the same thing I think.
Re: What is the difference between Report and Dataset in Power BI Publisher for Excel?
Hey,
considering the following:
User 1 publishes a model to the service (no matter, if data connection mode is import or direct query).
User 2 connects to the datasource "Power BI Service" and creates measures, there will also be a difference between Report and Dataset.
Regards
Tom
Re: What is the difference between Report and Dataset in Power BI Publisher for Excel?
Ok. I can see that. I create everything in Power BI Desktop and upload/publish from there, but I can see if I created further stuff in the service how the report would now have additional things in it.
Thanks for your help. And it explains why I always see the exact same thing - it is because of my workflow.
Google Analytics data refresh
We have been using the generic GA dashboard built by Power BI when you connect to GA as a datasource. We deploy it with our company app. This has been working great up until a few weeks ago. I get this generic failure message below now on my GA scheduled refreshes any ideas? I hit the refresh button and am asked to reauthenticate and seems to spin for a minute but the data never updates. Something odd i noticed is it started occuring right after daylight savings time. Not sure if that is related. On another side note i can delete the dashboard from my workspace and fully recreate using the Get Data feature in the bottom left corner. So I know my credentials are working.
Last refresh failed: Tue Mar 20 2018 13:23:04 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time)

Power BI integration with ecommerce cloud platform
Hello everyone.
At the company, we have been using a cloud-based e-commerce platform called VTEX (similar to Shopify). Currently, we are exporting .csv files in a montly basis, but we need to connect live (or "refreshable") to the database. VTEX provides a developers resource library, we refer to the API collection for the orders module, but we have been unable to connect to it following those instructions.
We are working in Power BI Desktop (2.56.5023.942 64-bit) and trying to connect to external data via web option, but with no luck at the inputs of the URLs, tokens and keys.
We want to know if is possible to connect in that way or with any other means Power BI may offer to request and get the order information? Is the web approach the way or do we have to get data using a different source?
Thanks for your help and hope I have been clear in my question.
Juan
AccountRight data refresh disabled
Hi,
Over the past week several of my AccountRight linked reports are now no longer refreshing and I am unable to crerate new ones.
The error message reads:
We couldn't import data from MYOB AccountRight
There was an error when processing the data in the dataset.
Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.
Data source errorThe specified resource kind is not valid.. The exception was raised by the IDataReader interface. Table: Financials.
The AccountRight files were recently updated to version 2017.2 and that is the only thing I can think of that may be causing the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this of late or have a possible solution?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Why is "Get Data" so difficult?
I cannot control OAuth. Power BI Desktop offers me a windows authentication, anonymous, and one other, but its definitely not OAuth.
As for MS Access, well, let's just say that mature tools beat these beta apps any time, in my books.
What specifically would you like to know?
