Re: Google Analytics Request failed (403) Error

Hi all,

I mean the issue started at the same time as the credential error maybe is related.

Power BI:

Customers who attempt to create a new query or edit their credentials for Google Analytics data sources may get an authentication error when entering their Google account information. In addition, some customers may get authentication errors when refreshing datasets that access Google Analytics data. Engineers are working on the fix to mitigate the issue.Next Update:03/15/2018 2:00 PM PST.

Best,
J.

What is the DAX formula do you use to create the measure? What do you mean that "select ALL diagnoses in the report"? Do you use filters or directly select rows in the visual?

Is there any possibility that you share me the problem data? I will test it in my Desktop.

Hello Lydia,

Thank you for your response.

It seems that this issue has been reported 2 years ago, is there a reason why this crucial functionality has not been implemented yet?

Kind regards,

Tim

Yes Lydia, and nothings happen.

May the problem be related to “allow external access to this query” option?

Thank you,

Andrea

not sure what the question means Lydia.

I guess, I want to be able to change the web api URL in one single place, instead of for each query, which is how it currently works.

I want this to work in PowerBI Online.

ODBC Problem with mongoDB BI connector (MySQL)

Hi everybody.

Since 1 month, I am not able to load more than 500,000 (I have 590,000 more or less) lines from MongoDB using the ODBC connector. Let me explain: I use the lastest release of MongoDB 3.6 and I have installed the MongoDB BI connector, that means, I use the ODBC option of PowerBI to get data, as the Mongo BI connector fakes a MySQL ODBC connection.

The last 4 months, all went smoothly and I was able to load my 4,000,000 lines from MongoDB, but this month, the Refresh Data gives me an error (ODBC Driver Error) at the end of the import. That is to say, it reads all the lines, but when it finishes, it just crashes.

The very strange thing is that when I try this using Excel: conecting to the exact same DSN, importing the exact same table, it reads the 590,000 lines.

I have tested in PowerBI, it works for 480,000 lines but crashes for 590,000.

I have no idea about what could be the problem, and why it worked for 4,000,000 the last months.

Thanks!

Hi Lydia,

I am using =DISTINCTCOUNT(LabComponentResultFact[EncounterKey]) and =DISTINCTCOUNT(DiagnosisEventFact[EncounterKey]) for measures.

By 'selecting all diagnoses' I mean when creating a pivot table report I put both measures on columns and all values in diagnosis dimension on rows.

Yuriy

Re: Date issues with Sharepoint file sources

When I opened up Power BI desktop to have another look at this, I got notfied that a new version was available. Hoping that it would be sorted, I instaled the new version (2.56.5023.942), but the problem is still there.

As mentioned above, the error occurs in the first line of the query (source = ...). The Date Modified and Date Created fields are defaulting to a Date/Time type data type as expected. However the cells in both columns show an error. Selecting an individual cell shows this error:

DataFormat.Error: We couldn't parse the input provided as a DateTimeZone value.
Details:
6/03/2018 9:05 a.m.

Changing type to anything else (including text, and date/time/timezone with locale set to English (NZ)), still returns the same error. So, I can't get in to manipulate the date field.

(I've just tried to do the same thing in Excel, and the data loads correctly...

So, that would seem to indicate that there's a problem with the query engine in Power BI desktop.)

Any ideas?

Michael

Re: Azure SQL Server Managed Instance

Azure SQL server Managed Instance is a cloud data source, which is similar as Azure SQL database, when you refresh the dataset that contains the data source, gateway is not required. You "Connect Directly" to the data source in Power BI Service.

And in Power BI Desktop, it is possible to use Azure SQL database connector to connect to the Azure SQL managed instance.

Re: Connect Power BI Desktop to PostgreSQL database through SSH tunnel

My report is connected to PostgreSQL database using ODBC connector and everything works fine.

Now I want to change Import Mode into Direct Query.

Is it possible to connect via ODBC in DQ mode?

Power Bi Desktop and Service Integration

I currently use Power Bi desktop with multiple csv data sources.

The files are linked with relationships and I have quite a few useful queries added too. However I am looking at using the Power Bi service to publish data to other users, but at the minute I have to refresh the data in the desktop app then publish it to the online workspace.

This incorporates all the data from multiple files into a single data set, which works well.

Is there a way to then update the data within the dataset from the original csv's without manually publishing through the desktop app.

Adding the files as data sources in the web app doesn't work for me as I don't believe the relationships can be created in the web version.

So basically, I need to setup the relationships and queries in desktop. Publish the first time, then have the data auto up an update when source data is added without manual intervention.

Has anyone else tried this or have a solution.

Hello Lydia,

That makes sense, thank you for the clarification!

Error found in custom UI XML of "Microsoft Power BI Publisher for Excel"

The following error message continue to appear everytime a new Worksheet is created and upon a mouse "right click" (no error on left clicks).
Choosing "OK" does not resolve the issue, only "OK to All".
Already tried to repair the installation of Power BI and the 32bit Publisher on a Win10 Enterprise with Office 365 with no success.
Any recommendations, please?

I was receiving this error.  I used the Control Panel to uninstall the gateway then reinstalled the latest version.  I used my recovery key to take over the current gateway.  Now connections work again.
