I'm new to Power BI, and I try to connect to my local mysql database. I get the following error message (after giving the server and the database name): "Unable to connect. We encountered an error while trying to connect. Details: "Keyword not supported. Parameter name: integratedsecurity"

Hope somebody has a solution!

In power bi service click on Settings icon (wheel) on top right hand corner -> Manage gateways -> Remove your old gateway from the list. Then go to your dataset settings and provided you have added data source under new gateway you will have an option to choose this new gateway (as old is removed by you).

Alternatively old gateway from service, remove your report (if not shared with anyone currently), then re-publish your report and it will use your new gateway (provided old gateway is removed, new one has data source added).

: Hope the below helps.

Step1: Prior to migration, i.e. from a local machine personal gateway to server based enterprise gatewway, ensure you do the last refresh for the dataset and archive for backup / recovery purposes AND copy the files and validate the authentication of the new gateway (using Azure preferably on a domain machine and the same access rights as per the first gateway's credentials.

Step 2: You need to add the new gateway for the new source from the admin console for the same dataset. once configured ( we are not yet at the sync stage ....), you will come across something like the below.

Selecting gateway for the same named dataset #PowerBI #GatewaySelecting gateway for the same named dataset #PowerBI #Gateway

Step 3 ( Optional ): You can stop the services for sometime of the first gateway to ensure the dataset doesnt sync or show online. Ensure no other reports on running on this gateway ( i.e. Gateway 1)

Step 4: Select the second gateway from the list. You should be able to see it if the authentication is successfull. ( depends whether you are using file/db/live content based source )

Step 5: Once the setup is replicated, now you need to re-run the authentication for the enterprise gateway locally and over the portal and check the connection works. Depending on your data size, monitor the refresh over the new gateway till it's not compelete.

Power BI Web Refresh issue: Expression.Error

Hi everyone,

When trying to refresh a dataset and report on the PowerBI website I get this error:

Something went wrong.
Cannot connect to the mashup data source. See error details for more information.
Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.Underlying error code -2147467259Underlying error message The key didn't match any rows in the tableDM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingHResult -2147467259Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Key [Schema = "DDKPROD", Item = "COUNTMARKETINGSTATUS"]Microsoft.Data.Mashup.ValueError.Reason Expression.ErrorCluster URI WABI-NORTH-EUROPE-redirect.analysis.windows.netActivity ID 07ba0aeb-19ce-a77b-4b16-102b20252f12Request ID de37e926-c2c7-1dfd-8592-e83ef3f79603Time 2016-10-04 10:01:11Z

It is worth noting that I have no issue in accessing/refreshing the data when I open the report in Power BI desktop. The issue is when I upload the PowerBI desktop report to the PowerBI website and then from there tries to refresh the report/data. The table in question is called COUNTMARKETINGSTATUS, but the PowerBI website has had no problem in accessing it before now.

I have tried the following:

But the issue persists.

Do any of you have any suggestions as to what I can try to do or to what might be causing this issue?

Many thanks beforehand!

Hi,

I am having the same error with my sharepoint URL. I am using sharepoint 2010 and want it to be directly connected to Power BI but unable to do so as it is throwing error.

How we can go to sharepoint server to make the change you have notes in your post. I am quite new to sharepoint so need your guidance.

Connected to VSO > Reports show (Blank)

Hello! I'm have connected my Visual Studios Online account to PowerBI, but it will no longer pull data for specific projects. It displayed data for my reports when I first connected it, but then a couple days later it now shows "(blank)". This is the case across two different projects/dashboards. When I denote * as the project so that it pulls all data from all projects, it will populate the reports with information from our entire VSO account, but not when I specify the project.

It connects to both projects without error, so I believe it recognizes them. I tried different forms of the project title but it shows an error that it doesn't recognize the project.

I heard back from Microsoft that...

  • Currently, the On-Premises Gateway does not support OAuth (a requirement for SharePoint Online connectivity); so if you have a dataset that has both SharePoint Online and on-premise data sources, that dataset cannot be refreshed using an On-Premises Gateway.

  • As mentioned here, you can use a Personal Gateway to set up a scheduled refresh of a dataset that has both SharePoint Online and on-premise data sources. This is what they recommended.

  • Microsoft is investigating the possibility of a change to allow OAuth with the On-Premises Gateway, but have have no timelines for it.

  • They recommended that I continue to to use the On-Premises Gateway for datasets where it works, but use the Personal Gateway as a "workaround" for my one dataset that has both SharePoint Online and on-premise data sources

Re: Error Connecting To Tally (Accounting Software) using ODBC

Hi again,

I looked into the details you sent, looks like this ODBC driver is telling us that the table name is null. Does Tally have such tables? If not, this is a very big problem with this ODBC driver, and we can't do anything until they fix their bug.

PowerBI Gateway - Personal - Unable to connect

I seem to be having a difficult time getting PowerBI Gateway - Personal to connect during the install. It prompts me to sign-in and attempts to connect and then an error. Error is specifically stating that the connection failed.

Any ideas on how to get this working? Followed every step through the way so I'm not sure why it isn't working.

My windows environment is 64-bit as well as it's a VM. In the process of creating a Demo to connect to Dynamics NAV demo database. However the gateway isn't connecting.

Power BI Embedded with SharePoint - List as DataSource and Controller

Hello Power BI Community,

recently we got the customer request about embedding Power BI into SharePoint On-Prem/Online to get insights into data maintaned in a SharePoint list. Currently the customer exports the SharePoint list as an Excel and imports it in Power BI Desktop. To simplify this process we want to embed Power BI as an Web Part / IFrame within a SharePoint Site and associate the Power BI Report Data View with the SharePoint List. In addition to that the customer wants to filter the SharePoint list and instantly want to see the udapted changes in the Power BI View. I was wondering if this szenario is feasible? Maybe with passing data over an api (powerbi-client) and the SharePoint Framework SPFx?

I'm new to Power BI so I appricate any help! Thx Folks Smiley Happy

Have you run through all the troubleshooting steps outlined here?

Hi ,

As mentioned in my original post, in your scenario, as the dataset contains two data sources, on-premises data source and SharePoint Online file, it's not supported to use on-premise gateway to build connection. Only personal gateway is available now for us to setup schedule refresh.

I would say use wildcard (*) to get all the data then use Projects field as slicer to filter on the specific projects. Also use this to do some troubleshooting and contact MS Support if needed.

Hi ,

In Power BI Service, we can connect to appFigures content pack, which retrieve data include app sales, downloads, and ad statistics, then builds a default dashboard and related reports based on that data. For more information, please refer to this article: appFigures content pack for Power BI.

Hi ,

Are you able to connect to MySQL database through MySQL workbench? If there is no issue with using MySQL workbench, please use same connections parameters in Power BI Desktop and also add port number with server name to connect to MySQL.

Thanks,
Lydia Zhang

Yes I have.

The VM (Windows) is not part of a domain/AD so there's no Group Policy associated. It is a clean VM install and just recently installed Dynamics NAV 2016 Demo. I'm designing it so that I can demo the process.

There isn't any prior Gateway install as well so I'm not sure why it continues to fail.

Continues to error out with "Registering the Analysis Service Connector failed: Reconnecting".
