Hi everyone,
I apologize if this topic was already posted here but I couldn't find the content. I'm a Mac user and currently using the web version for Power BI. Is there a way of changing the date display settings on the web version? Most of all the posts I found were related to the desktop version. I would be highly grateful if one of you could help me with this.
My excel source file has a column called DATE which has English format Month day, Year. I would love to see the dashboard being filtered by Month & Year on Power BI. Right now, it is displaying like this after importing the data source. Does anyone have an idea how I could change this? Thank you!
This is how we set up our report.
Here is how you can accomplish what you are asking in the gateway configuration:
On-premise gateway admins can now control the number of containers running simultaneously on the gateway machine. The more of those containers running, the more queries will run concurrently through the gateway.
Here are the steps to change this configuration:
On the gateway machine, open the file: [Program Files]\On-premises data gateway\Microsoft.PowerBI.DataMovement.Pipeline.GatewayCore.dll.config
Find the “MashupDefaultPoolContainerMaxCount” setting.
Change its value to the desired value.
Save and restart the gateway.
You will notice that in that file the default value of this setting is ‘0’. This means that it will use the default out of the box mashup engine setting of ‘6’ containers. You can override this default by setting your own value.
Keep in mind that those mashup engine containers require machine resources and will affect your machine’s performance. You will need to strike a good balance between the efficiency you get by running concurrent queries and optimizing the local machine resources those containers use. A recommended ceiling for the maximum number of containers you can use is roughly twice the number of cores in your local machine processor.
Changing this property value to 1 means that all queries will run sequentially, which could be desired for specific data sources that don’t support or don’t perform well with concurrent requests.

I am able to directly change the data type of the text column to Duration or add a custom column.
=Duration.FromText([Column1])

Thanks for your help
I am not able to connect to an excel in Sharepoint with this:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-use-onedrive-business-links
It won't let me choose between Windows/Organizational account but shows the following message.
How can I change my login settings? They are not visible in data source settings.
I am trying to follow the guide on how to set up an SSO gateway connection using Kerberos to our SAP BW data source:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/power-bi/service-gateway-sso-kerberos#supported-data-sources
I simply can't wrap my head around all the different steps required and how to complete them.
So has anyone succeeded in actually setting up SSO using this guide?
If yes, does the setup then allow for the viewer of the report to be authenticated by SAP BW?
If you can point to any further resources on how to complete the setup that would be much obliged as well!
You should have a recovery Key while installing the Gateway. Keep that in handy. Go to Control Panel--> Select on premise gateway and click on Change, it will prompt for Uninstall though it wont uninstall. Setup will run to fix the issue. and then you can download the latest version of Gateway and can install. it will automatically update the existing one.
Key is first to make the existing gateway run without any issue before we go for upgrade.
Also check you are able to login to powerbi.com from your browser. Browser authentication is required when you try to upgrade the gateway.
Thanks,
Ankku
Hi there,
We have lost our ability to integrate Powerapps with Power BI using the Tile Embed function.
I have seen "
Awareness
Customers using Tile Embed may experience issues with Live Page tiles failing to render. Engineers are working on a fix and an ETA will be provided shortly.
However I require an update on timescale as the platform supports critical reporting for our business.
Please advise.
Thanks

Hi everyone,
Our company uses the application Dyflexis for scheduling the employees. They have an API available and I have access to it with my API token. When I want to add a new data source to my dashboard as 'web' and I fill in the api link and my token, I can't connect because it gives me a message 'A web API key can only be sepcified when a web API key name is provided.
Can someone help my connect to the API? I have no idea what to do or try..
Thank you,
Tim
Just restart your on-premises data gateway (personal mode). It should work. It did for me.
Hi everyone
I just saw a webinar that showed SQL Server management studio connected to a PowerBI dataset using an API. I can't find any documentation on how to do this.
Does anyone have a link that they could share?
Thank you
Cathryn
I'm new to PowerBI and can see it's power - pardon the pun. My difficulty in getting started is that my company has a HUGE amount of data and I'm trying to connect to our databases and within the databases themselves it's hard to make top from bottom. I work for a life insurance company that receive and take a lot of phone calls to customers and I want to be able to create dashboards for our agents (a little over 100), our front end reporting is in ICBM and I like it at a team level - but can't see it down to the individual.
Can you advise on how to connect to Interactive Intelligence? And shoot away with any questions.
I'm looking forward to beocming more proficient.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I don't think a screen shot will help as everything is blank.
I believe this has to do with my essbase pull not having any parameters for the dimensions. When I choose the dimensions and measure I don't know how, in the syntax, to apply parameters to the dimensions so that I see data. For example, for the 'Department' dimension I want to only see 'Technology and Product'. I need to 'populate' every dimension for this to return data, or that is my guess as to why this isn't working. But would appreciate anyone who has this connector working to share how. Again, I can connect and see the dimensions and measures, but the cube won't show me any data until I can somehow figure out how to apply parameters to the dimensions. It's just like going into SmartView. At first, nothing appears except the dimension names because the user hasn't updated them with the area he wants to see.
I have to admit, the Tableau connector is a lot more straight forward that this. I realize this is a beta, but I hope the Jan 2019 update addresses this as many of us use Essbase.
Thanks everyone!!!
Which authentication method do you use in Access web content dialog? Since you have filled in the api link with your token, please choose Anonymous authentication and check if you get any error message.

Lydia
What error message do you get? With SSO configured, the user’s data access permissions in SAP will apply, which may produce different results for different users in Power BI Report. Just as your post, it allows for the viewer of the report to be authenticated by SAP BW.
In addition, you can follow the guide in this whitepaper to set up an SSO gateway connection using Kerberos. Please note that Power BI service currently does not support the use of CommonCryptoLib (i.e. sapcrypto.dll) as a SNC library when configuring a SSO connection, only gsskrb5 is supported.

Lydia
Firstly, please go to File->Options and Settings->Data Source Settings->Global Permissions, click all the existing sharepoint excel data sources and click "Clear Permission". Then connect to the Excel in use web connector.
Secondly, if you are connecting to SharePoint excel, please use the URL below. If you are using SharePoint online, please use Organizational account authentication, if you are using on-premises SharePoint, please use Windows authentication.

Are you looking for the following blog? You are able to connect to Power BI data model from SSMS as Power BI Desktop starts a SQL Server Analysis Services processes in the background, you are actually connecting to a tabular instance from SSMS.

Do you want to automatically export report from Power BI to users? If so, there are some options for you.
1. Use R script in Power BI Desktop as suggested by alanhodgson in this similar thread . When you run the visual or update the dataset, it will export the data (in a table format) to a CSV or XLSX.
2. Create report in Power BI Desktop, publish the report to Power BI Service, share the report/dashboard to your clients. Or you can subscribe to dashboard or report in Power BI Service.
