You can create link server in SQL Server, then use Join query to combine data from two databases of different SQL Server instances into a flat-table. There is an example for your reference.

Could you please describe more details about "There is web url that opens the child report in a new browser"? How do you set the web url in parent report? Do you use many to many relationship in parent report? Also what are the data sources in the two reports?

You can create ODBC DSN for your C-tree database with the help of Faircom driver. Then connect to the ODBC data source using ODBC connector in Power BI Desktop, create report in Desktop and publish report to Power BI Service.

In Power BI Service, you can create dashboard for your report.

You enter wrong server name in Power BI Desktop, you miss "t" in "windows.net". The server name should be msedxeus.database.windows.net.

In addition, please mask your sensitive information(password, server name and so on) when you post question in Power BI forum.

Do you create many to many relationship as described in this article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-many-to-many-relationships? If so, this is a new feature which is included in composite model. There is a similar thread for your reference.

You would need to use traditional method that create bridge table, then establish many:1 relationship between table 1 and bridge table, and establish many:1 relationship between table 2 and bridge table.

Lydia

I have been having the same issue since yesterday - can't seem to find anything useful online.

If this were something that we could control, I would expect the error to say that the action is not permitted rather than reporting that the scope is unavailable. It almost feels like a feature in Azure AD or Office 365 has been removed!

I have logged a support request with the Azure AD team so will see what they say.

Update - when I look at the Azure AD admin portal, I can see an authentication failure when I try to connect to the Office 365 mailbox from Power BI. The source application is 'Microsoft Power Query for Excel' (as expected).

The failure reason is listed as:

The application required resource access list does not contain applications discoverable by the resource or The client application has requested access to resource, which was not specified in its required resource access list or Graph service returned bad request or resource not found. If the application supports SAML, you may have configured the application with the wrong Identifier (Entity). Try out the resolution listed for SAML using the link below: https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/active-directory/application-sign-in-problem-federated-sso-gallery?/?WT.mc_id=DMC_AAD_Manage_Apps_Troubleshooting_Nav#no-resource-in-requiredresourceaccess-list.

I am not running the very latest version of Power BI (I'm one version behind) so will update and see if that resolves the issue, but I don't expect it to.

How do you setup gateways for dynamic365 in powerbi for refreshing purpose?

Hello,

How do you setup gateways for dynamic365 in powerbi for refreshing purpose? I have installed "On-premise data gateway" already. At the moment, the 'refresh' option is still greyed out. Checking the 'manage gateway', I try to add new data source but cannot see dynamics 365 as an option.

Hi,

We face same problem. New gateway administrators (recently added) cannot configure dataset. This is what I see when I'm configuring gateway for dataset:

gateway_f.jpg

but, my colleagues who were recently added as gateway administrators see it like this:

gateway_j.jpg

So my guess new admins are not processed correcly in service:

Are you MS guys aware of this?

snip_20180809102113.pngI think the users have to be added to be allowed to use the data source too. I have not tested but it make sense. snip_20180809102436.png
