There are 2 Salesforce Objects I am unable to find in Power BI, Agent Work and User Presences. Both the objects are Salesforce Omni Solutions. I have already checked Objects/Tabs Rename Label setting and we are using the same name.

Connecting to 'Folder' from desktop just to get info on folder contents - extremely slow
Hello,
We are testing Power BI to see what details it can provide about folder/subfolder/files.
So, pretty simply, pointing to a folder (in Get Data) and trying to get info about the contents of those folders. We do not need to interrogate the contents of those underlying files. Just need to know attributes/metadata about the file - name, folder, extension, size, last time accessed, etc.
This is extremely slow and takes several hours to run. All we want is the metadata/properties of each file. Is there a setting or way to do this so it runs quicker? We do have ~40k underlying files but it took ~6 hours to run and load. This was just one folder structure.
Thanks for any help you can provided,
Dan
Re: Date issues with Sharepoint file sources
Thanks for your instructions, but it's not working for me.
Even before I "change type, using locale.." there is an error reported in the dates columns from the sharepoint.files line:
so I believe there's something broken when getting the data via the sharepoint.files command. I can get other date columns to behave correctly, and I've managed to replace what I was after with a sharepoint.tables query. The sharepoint.tables query takes a while to run, so I'd prefer to go back to the sharepoint.files command.
Anything else I could try?
Michael
Re: Google Analytics Request failed (403) Error
First thing this morning reports are running again. Connection to GA seems fine.
No word from Microsoft.
Lets not jump on all at once and break it guys
Can't connect to Azure SQL Database
I am trying to connect to Azure SQL database from my Power BI desktop, but I am not able to connect to the dabase. I have already checked into the below points.
- SSMS is installed on the same machine that has Power BI Desktop installed.
- a firewall rule has already been to allow Power BI Desktop to make a connection to Azure SQL.
- correct server name
Below error is reported:
Unable to connect
We encountered an error while trying to connect
Details: "Microsoft SQL: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - This is usually a temporary error during hostname resolution and means that the local server did not receive a response from an authoritative server.)"

Re: Connecting Power BI with an Azure SQL Server Database
I can successfully connect to Azure SQL database in March update of Power BI Desktop. what version of Power BI Desktop do you use? Are you able to connect to the database in SSMS?
In your scenario, please clear cache in Power BI Desktop, clear permissions for the existing Azure SQL connections in your PBIX file , then check if you can connect to the database.

power bi embedded + SSAS authentication
We're using Power BI Embedded. We're planning to migrate to the new "embedded capacity" eventually, but for now, still using the "old" Power BI Embedded with workspace collections.
- I was using Power BI embedded with Direct Query to tables in Azure SQL DB, but they are very slow because of large dataset (~10 million rows) and many complex queries.
- Tried Live Connection to an SQL SSAS Tabular model, but the report cannot display after all the publish steps, error message as "Couldn't load the model schema"
Does anyone know how to fix that?
Re: Connecting to 'Folder' from desktop just to get info on folder contents - extremely slow
Use PowerShell, this isn't really a use case Power BI was designed for. I've written multi-threaded PowerShell to scan folder structures and that's a much better tool for the job. User PowerShell to generate a CSV file of the metadata and import that into Power BI. You are trying to use a miter saw to hammer a nail.
Re: Binary data Oracle data type
Yes...Any news on relsoving this? Did you manage to import a Oracle Blob? Or did you figure out some sort of work-a-round?
Re: Error when connecting to SQL server analysis services database
Is there any resolution to this in Power BI updates since this post. We are also facing the same issue with loading more data from Mutidimensional SSAS cube into Power BI. We need to use DAX to acheive the desired customization in Power BI. Hence need to go for Import Mode. Is increasing MemoryBufferLimit in SSAS a recommended and tested option. We need to do impact analysis if at all needs to change settings for SSAS standard installation.
Re: Salesforce Objects Agent Work and User Presences not available for query
What connector do you use to connect to the data source in Power BI, Salesforce object or Salesforce report?

Re: Error 400 when import Microsoft Social Data into Power BI
Please verify that if you get correct Solution ID, for more details about how to get the Solution ID, please take a look at the following article.

Re: Pull data from a REST API which has Authentication
Please verify that if your web service supports "Basic" authentication or some headers such as subscription key, it is possible to use these authentication types in Advanced Editor.
There is a blog for your reference.

Re: Proper way of interacting with Redshift inside private subnet in AWS
Thanks so much for
driver={Amazon Redshift (x64)};server=<server>;dsn=<data source name>
where the name of the data source must match that of the ODBC system data source defined in the Windows machine where the On-premise Data Gateway is installed.
Re: Pull data from a REST API which has Authentication
I have posted query on Traverse community site but not had a response. From their developer guide it looks like the only option I have is the URL to logon as a pre step to the data URL request as described in opening post.
I may have to write a wrapper web service so I can send request through, do the URL authentication and request before returning data. Didnt want to do that as time consuming and additional overhead.
Re: Date issues with Sharepoint file sources
same issue for me
Re: Date issues with Sharepoint file sources
I have the same problem. Working before. not working now. shows an error when at the SOURCE step. change local to Welsh, which matches the exact format of the data 15/02/2017 13:06 but the error persists.
